Yummy Seafood Chinese Restaurant
503-505 King Georges Road Beverly Hills NSW 2209

Yummy delivers again! This place is one that I can always count on for delicious and friendly-in-the-pocket seafood dishes!
For a combined birthday and mother’s day celebration - we decided to go all out and ordered the best seafood.
Pictured:
Pipis cooked in spicy sauce on a bed of awesome vermicelli. This is such an awesome dish. I just couldn’t have enough of it. The spiciness for me was perfect but was quite spicy for some people so maybe ask them to tone it down if you don’t eat spicy.
Crab cooked in shallots and ginger with noodles. This is such an enjoyable dish. We sat there for a while just enjoying cracking the crabs and lick the sauces. The crab was lightly floured and fried first, resulting it being covered in light batter that is great to much on.
We also ordered Shark fin soup, the must order beef with wasabi mayonnaise sauce, vegetables and fried rice.
All this for 9 people for $300. Great value I think for Shark fin, Crab and Pipis!

This small cafe packs lots of flavour into its dishes. Conveniently located in walking distance to the Central station, this award winning cafe is cosy and serves great food!
I just love love the Berry yoghurt!
Have it in small ($5) or large ($8). I ordered small which was perfect size for me as an accompaniment to my sourdough toast with butter and vegemite.
We also had:
- Chorize omelette (on specials board) was superb.. it was still soft inside with lots of fillings and super satisfying
- French toast with lemon creme, chocolate chantilly and fresh berries ordered by our friend just looked gorgeous!

[Update: We have been informed that Bean Drinking now has a revamped food menu! There are lots of breakfast and lunch menus available.]
We stumbled across this cafe when one morning, we were in the area and didn’t know where to go and googled around for a high rating cafe.
This cafe focuses on its coffees. They sell different kind of coffee beans, drips, syphon, everything!
If you are looking for new coffee beans for your machine at home - give this place a go. The staffs seem to know the a to z of anything coffee! ;)
Our chai latte & mocha:

The food menu was quite simple, it has some pastries on display and a short selection of hot food.
We had the home made beans served with toast and croque madam (toasted gruyere and ham sandwich) served with fresh bowl of salad - both simple but very wholesome.

Cafe Shenkin
53 Erskineville Road Erskineville NSW 2043

When we first read the menu, oh my - it was very confusing to decide what to order! The breakfast menu was way beyond the usual egg & bacon - they have a great variety of unique Israeli dishes. Nevertheless I had such a hard time deciding what to order. I went for the usual big breakfast as I really felt like it - but it’s good to have my friends there ordering the more unique dishes!
We tried & tested:
Big Breakfast
Your choice of eggs served with bacon, sausage, mushrooms, baby spinach, grilled tomato and your choice of toast served with jam and butter
- came in a very generous portion and 2 slices of toast with sides of butter and jam
Hummus Plate
Homemade hummus served with falafel and warm pita bread
- the hummus was just awesome!
Burekas
Light puff pastry filled with: Mushroom, onion, and mashed potato topped with creamy mushroom sauce
- great mushroom sauce - taste like pasta sauce though!
Shakshuka
Two eggs poached in a rich tomato, capsicum, garlic and onion sauce, served with fresh home made pita bread.
- a very enjoyable breakfast - love dipping the pita bread to the sauce!
Kebab Wrap
Grilled beef patties, tahini, lettuce and tomato
- huge!

Food Quarter, The Star
Pirrama Road, Pyrmont
My colleague forwarded me a newsletter from The Star promoting their limited edition dishes in Food Quarter (inside the casino). I was thrilled! We rounded up the troops and headed there for lunch straight away.
What an amazing deal!
- $10 chilli crab
- $7.50 half chicken
(Member price. Double for non-member. They didn’t ask for our member cards though. Promotion only on Sunday - Thursday, until 3rd May 2012).
We didn’t try the half chicken but the photo looks good!
The chilli crab was very decent for $10. Sauce was good and quite spicy - perfect to be eaten with the rice. The crab we suspected was bought frozen but still not bad at all for the price.
We left the place with dirty hands, satisfied tummy, and happy wallet.

Reuben Hills
61 Albion St
Surry Hills
Went to Reuben Hills with a girlfriend today for some chit chat! A great place to slurp some salted caramel shake and ‘people watch’.
The shake was just refreshing, caramel sweet but with that hint of saltiness - a perfect balance! Give it a go!

Makanai
Shop 223A Westfield Chatswood
Chatswood, NSW 2067
A very good reliable Japanese ramen place in Chatswood.
Try out their new spicy menu! Volcano ramen & Super Volcano ramen.
I have a high tolerance to chilli and to my taste, the Volcano has the perfect spice level for a very enjoyable bowl of ramen. If you however love more spice, try out the Super Volcano.
Pictured here is the (normal) Volcano ramen with Cha shu.

- with salad and chips

20 mins wait to get a seat for two. What I can say is : It’s Worth It!
The food was very tasty and wholesome. Each of the dish was created perfectly. It was a very enjoyable dining experience!
Tried & tested:
- Wagyu bresaola with artichokes - awesome flavour
- Grilled ox tongue - I never have a cubed ox tongue before. It was very soft and all the flavours works superbly well
- Roast Aylesbury duck breast, toasted grains, lentils & plum - not only the duck tasted great, but the lentils mixed were a delight!
- Spiced cauliflower with goats curd - again, so much flavour!
